TRAFFIC Recommendations on Selected Agenda Documents For CITES COP19

The framework includes, for the first time, a proposed Target 5 that directly addresses the harvest, use and trade of wild species, and other targets addressing the benefits to conservation and humans resulting from the legal and sustainable use of wildlife. CITES will play an essential role in assisting governments to meet these targets. TRAFFIC, therefore, fully supports the draft Decision calling for a comparative analysis of the areas of alignment between the CITES Strategic Vision 2021-2030 and the post-2020 GBF, as a starting point for an assessment of how CITES can contribute to the implementation of the GBF and its monitoring framework.
